The accessible holiday checklist: plan a trip with confidence

A step-by-step checklist for planning an accessible holiday — from choosing the destination to confirming the details that make or break a trip.

An open suitcase with headphones and practical holiday essentials

The difference between a stressful trip and a great one usually comes down to a handful of details confirmed in advance. Here's a checklist for planning an accessible holiday, whether it's a weekend away or a big adventure.

1. Choose the destination by features, not photos

Start with what you need — step-free access, a quiet environment, accessible transport, medical support nearby — and shortlist destinations that deliver it. Search Can We Go by city and feature to see what's actually there.

2. Lock in accommodation with written confirmation

Ask the specific questions: roll-in shower, bed height, door widths, parking distance. Get answers by email so there's a record.

3. Map the essentials

Before you go, save the accessible toilets and Changing Places near where you're staying, the accessible transport options, and one or two quiet places you can retreat to.

4. Book the things that book out

Beach wheelchairs, sensory sessions, accessible tours and equipment hire often need advance booking. Do it early.

5. Build the plan and share it

Use your Can We Go account to build a day-by-day plan and share a read-only link with everyone coming. If plans change, everyone sees the update.

Information may change. Check with the venue if a feature is essential to your visit.
